Chipping Sodbury Flood Alleviation Works Continue!

Progressing on to the next stage of flood alleviation works at Chipping Sodbury in South Gloucestershire, we’re pleased to announce that our segmental shaft construction commenced earlier this month!

Working with our strategic supply chain partners, Active Tunneling, we are currently sinking the 4.0m diameter shaft. This will form the structural vessel for an outlet pumping station, capable of pumping 300 litres a second from the neighbouring attenuation pond, reducing flood risk to the wider rail network!

With the shaft construction works due for completion in late September, we’ll then commence installation of the telemetry, mechanical and electrical equipment to facilitate the operation of pump and control systems.

As the final stage in the flood resilience strategy, we’re proud to be providing increased safety and protection against floods for the railway and local community!
