Howden Rock Ramp - receives highly acclaimed certificate
Last week AmcoGiffen attended the RSPB Nature of Scotland Awards 2019 which recognises outstanding conservation success across Scotland. Working with Forth Rivers Trust and West Lothian Council we received a Highly Commended for the Coasts & Waters Award ‘Letting the fish find their own way – Howden Rock Ramp.’
The Rock Ramp is a biodiversity enhancing solution to a weir blocking the river. By building a natural looking rock ramp in the channel, migratory fish can ascend the weir to complete their life cycle and habitat is created for a myriad of insects, fish, birds and mammals
