NEW Groundbreaking Safety App
An innovative partnership between AmcoGiffen and Safety Shield Global has pushed the boundaries of digital worksite protection with the launch of their revolutionary, AI-powered S.T.R.E.A.M app.
Using advanced Human Form Recognition (HFR) technology tailored to specific site dimensions and plant operations, the ‘Site Team Reporting and Emergency Accident Management’ system is a game-changer in the quest to improve workplace safety.
Providing real-time alerts to supervisors, and with a built-in escalation process for project and contract managers, the S.T.R.E.A.M app warns of activities, processes, or behaviours that could lead to a potential People Plant Interface (PPI) event, allowing for immediate intervention on the ground and creating a reduced risk environment.
Born out of AmcoGiffen’s strategic and behavioural safety objectives, the engineering and infrastructure specialists partnered with market-leading AI safety solutions pioneer, Safety Shield Global, to develop the app, which has already been extensively tested in field trials on a live project, resulting in an 88% reduction in all incidents of PPI.
As a result of the successful trials, S.T.R.E.A.M has now been mandated on all new AmcoGiffen sites to enhance its worker safety protocols.

S.T.R.E.A.M, the first app of its kind to be produced, is a highly advanced extension to the Safety Shield Global VUE portal, which collates data on incidents of PPI from its award-winning alarm system that provides audio and visual alerts whenever a human form encroaches into the plant’s camera-monitored danger zones.
Adaptable and fully customisable so that it can operate within any industry where PPI exists, S.T.R.E.A.M provides a crucial additional layer of protection for people operating in such sectors as construction, rail, warehousing, agriculture and waste management.
Chris English, SHEQ Director, AmcoGiffen, said: “This innovation was built to specifically align with our SHEQ/247 safety vision of ‘Everyone home safe and healthy every day’. Demonstrating the company’s commitment to reducing, and where possible, eliminating risks on site through forward-thinking solutions.
“While the Safety Shield Vue portal initially allowed for data to be shared with senior management and safety representatives, AmcoGiffen were keen for a system which would allow for quicker and wider cascading of information to the workforce.
“The real-time alerts allow our site supervisors to review the working environment, the work plan and any at-risk behaviours present. Understanding the cause enables a real-time intervention to stop work, and for the workforce to identify and agree different ways of working to eliminate PPI risk. We have already seen staggering results.”

Safety Shield CEO Jonathan Guest founded the business 15 years ago, following the death of a close friend who was crushed while working on a construction site. He has dedicated his working life to making sure such incidents never happen again.
The AmcoGiffen and Safety Shield collaboration promises to have a wide-reaching impact on PPI safety, helping to reinforce reduced risk behaviours in the moment when they’re most likely to influence lasting change and tracked to ensure continual improvement.
AmcoGiffen are currently rolling out the S.T.R.E.A.M app across all sites, and the app will ultimately be available for other Safety Shield clients to adopt into their businesses’ strategic safety operations.
