Sir Peter Hendy visit

Sir Peter Hendy, Chair of Network Rail took time out to visit Black Bridge and unveil a plaque following the ground-breaking scheme to raise the structure one metre out of rising water.

The plaque unveiling took place on site at Machynlleth on Thursday 15 July 2021 with attendees from Network Rail, AmcoGiffen and Transport for Wales as well as Margaret Llewellyn, the chair of the Wales Route Supervisory Board, Craig Williams MP, Russell George MS, Councillor Delwyn Evans, Mayor of Dolgellau (also representing Cambrian Coast Committee) and Ann Elias, Mid Wales Regional Engagement Team – Strategic Transport.

The event involved a detailed introduction from Network Rail about how we’ve brought the project to successful completion despite short timescales and several challenges during the programme, ultimately improving passenger experience.

Guests had the opportunity to visit the bridge in small groups and then to watch the official unveiling, following lastest guidelines throughout.

Visitors agreed that the project and its outcome is incredibly important to those who use the Cambrian line and the mid-Wales economy.
